013R sold?

mini magic
04-03-2010, 11:18 PM
Gone from the Kidston website (not in the "sold" section though) and isn't listed in their/his ad in the April issue of evo magazine.

Anyone know where it went? Did i miss something? I read in one of his ads that he doesn't list some cars due to owner privacy but its wierd for the car to be publicized and then dissapear.

I too noticed it was missing from the Kidston site. Then heard that it has not been sold from someone who would know.

It's been off there adverts for a few months now. Hopefully it'll reappear sometime soon, still in the LARK livery, and bought by someone who shows it off! :)

Prays to the car gods that the new owner keeps the LARK livery.

Prays to the car gods a little more that they convert it back to racing spec and take the car to the track regularly.

It will see regular use and will retain the LARK livery. It will remain a dual purpose car for now though, which really makes the most sense given the expense has already been made to convert it.

Thanks for the good news! Fantastic to hear this kind of news about it. Not Papaya Orange (even it's a Great color!), but this car really needs to keep the LARK livery. And if it will return racetracks, even not full racespecs, it's superp. Main thing is, it won't go any warehouse or something. And maybe...maybe! We could see it some video clips somepoint! :)

If 599 Fiorano cost 500 000€, over half of that is car taxes, how much the McLaren F1 would cost..........

I took quite a few pics of 13R this morning, it looked awesome! I was a little surprised however that although there were a few people always stood around it, there was nowhere near as many as were stood around the 2x Veyrons. I can only assume that a lot of people either didn't know what it was, or didn't appreciate the significance of seeing a McF1 GTR in the flesh!
I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time when the owner left too, it sounds so awesome!

Unfortunately not. I tried taking 4/5 shots of the chassis plate and it seems because of the angle I was at my camera just wouldn't focus on it, just all the buttons around it. The best I can do, and it's terrible, is this:

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s270/JPicsY2k7/chassisplatebad.jpg

I'm sure given the number of people that I saw taking internal shots a decent effort is bound to pop up at some point though.

Thanks BlueEdge, as can be seen in the pic Greg posted, its a unique chassis plate for the 20th Anniversary, I guess each chassis that was at MTC has one each to commemorate this occasion.

I would assume the original chassis plates were either retained by Mclaren or presented in one form or another to the owners. More likely the former to avoid any fakes being created.

Reverse light is being sorted out!

Was fun to bring down to goodwood at weekend. I have always seen the f1 as the ultimate so getting 13r is proper dream come true. The car will be getting used alot now instead of being stuck away in a collection. Just the level of enthusiasm shown at the weekend and on forums like this shows why they should be out more. Thanks to couple of the guys on here who have provided great info on the car. Happy to discuss and answer questions but not on here all the time so may be a delay for replies.

I would assume the original chassis plates were either retained by Mclaren or presented in one form or another to the owners. More likely the former to avoid any fakes being created.

Normally the original chassis plate, bearing a patina of years of cumulative scratches and oxidisation, is the sine qua non of authenticity. You could put the original in a box and replace it with a new piece, but doing that almost defeats the point of having the plate.
IMO it is inconceivable that McLaren would change a car's chassis plate without the owner's prior permission. One can imagine that an owner might request that the factory replace the original, but it does seem unusual.

Good to hear it is not going to be hidden away in a colection, Andy is my kind of owner, besides as I have already voiced here, cars are always in much better mechanical condition if used on a regular basis, long periodsof inactivity can cause havoc with joints and bearings.

Just noticed something completely insignificant and out of the blue, but interesting nonetheless.

The placement of the McLaren badge has changed on the front.

I kept looking at the Lark logo on the front and noticed the badge is right in the middle of it, and then you can see a dark mark just above the logo where it used to be.

Was only when I looked at the photos of the car when it was in Oz that I noticed it as well, weird...

Wow, congratulations Andy on such a wonderful acquisition. #013R is one of my personal favourite F1 GTRs, and must be quite a thrill to drive.

Just one question for now. Has #013R has it's engine derestricted, and if so, does it produce anywhere near or even beyond the power of an F1 LM, as was alluded to in posts about #016R and several other road-converted GTRs?

Thanks a lot.
