Radio Stays On

My wife just called me at work and said when she shut her 97 Expedition off, the radio stayed on. This is a new one. Is this just a radio issue, or do I have bigger problems? She also said the radio wouldn't change stations. That sounds like a radio problem, but I can't figure out why it wont shut off.

Like how long does it stay on? In my 2007 the radio will stay on for up to what, 10 minutes I think, maybe it was 15? Course opening a front door negates this, and shuts it off..

Other questions people will ask if my comment wasn't sufficient or applicable would be things like....

Is the vehicle new to you?
Is the radio the factory/stock unit?

In any case, while looking to see what other questions could be asked, I noted the part about the radio can't be changed.. Does it work when the car is on still? Is it repeatable? Without your answers, I'll speculate it's an aftermarket radio, and sounds like either it's wired incorrectly, or certainly got something wrong inside it (wrong meaning bad, going bad, etc)..

I've had the car for 10 years and it's never happened before today. It's the original radio. I don't know how long it stayed on, I told her to shut if off so the battery wouldn't go down. It may still be on otherwise. I'm at work now and haven't been able to look at it. I love these calls first thing in the morning where I have all day to sit here thinking about it. I'm wondering if the wipers will work too, or if it's just the radio. If the wipers still work, I'll assume it's something in the ignition switch, otherwise it may be the radio, although if it is, why does it have power to stay on?

Oh wow, yeah that sucks.. Was thinking either the ride was new to you, or the radio was, or something was, lol :) Let us know what ya find out on this!

I didn't really learn anything since I wasn't home to troubleshoot it while it was happening. By the time I got home, everything was fine. It rained like crazy that morning, so the only thing I can figure is that something got wet.
