97 f150 egr vavle un hooked

ok I have a 97 f150 with 4.6 litter and 190,000 all original i unhooked the egr valve when i put headers on it. who needs all that hot air going back in the motor anyway. but now my check engine light will not stay off. code for insufficient egr flow. what can i do to get this to stay off. beside pulln the bulb or black tape over it lol Thanks

Either hook the EGR back up or do what you said.
