I have a 98 Lesabre and when driving it just shuts off. I cleaned the corrosion from the positive battery connection. I even cut open the red boot and cleaned between two of the three connections. The connection to the battery is tight. When drivind it just turns off as if the battery gets unplugged. I have noticed in the past that when I start the car the alternator gage is low for about 4 seconds then jumps right up to right before the red mark. After it dies it will start right up no problem.
Any ideas would be helpfull.
Thanks

Sir,
I have had the "just turns off" problem with o ur '97 and my '91. The turn-off ocurred when the unit was warm, up to temp. It turned out to be a bad crank position sensor. If it sat for a while and cooled down, then it restarted and ran well for a time.

The car has 139,000 miles on it. Also the check engine light is not on so I don't know if it is throwing any codes. I'll check with autozone.

be careful changing yourself. You need a special tool for the balancer to get to the sensor itself.
