2001 Yukon Headlights on During Day

I know there are daytime running lights. I'm not stupid. I was just wondering if anyone would know why my headlights have been staying on during the day. It's starting to get annoying to override them.

kind of on a side note....just curious....does anyone know how to turn the headlights off at night. There have been a couple of times when I just wanted the parking lights on...but the switch would not turn them off if the engine was running.

I am also trying to find out how to turn off my headlights, when I just want the parking lights. I was wondering if you have found a way to do that?

To turn them off, turn the switch to all the way right, then back all the way left two times. There should then be a tone and the headlights should turn off.

tried that, did not work for me

If you have a dome light override button press it 4 times and you should hear a chime and that will disable the daytime running lights and the automatic headlights after dusk.

tried it with key on and key off, tried more than 4 times too

You have to do this every time you start the truck, and the truck will have to be running when you do it. I can't remember but it may even have to be in gear. I have a 2001 XL and that is how it works on mine.

tried again with truck running in park and drive, did not work
