I'm not sure about that one but you could use a MY98 or MY99 WRC WRX because Possum was using an ex-WRC Impreza in the ARC at one stage (I think it was last season but I'm not sure which year WRX he had) and just get a transfer kit maybe?

Studio 27 have a few different decals for Possum Burne cars. A couple for 1998-99 specification Impreza WRCs to build the 1999 and 2000 Rally New Zealand cars (Possum was usually a year behind Prodrive). Plus S27 recently released a sheet for the 2002 Alpine, Hokkaido and Australian Rallies. There are probably plenty of others but that is all I can remember off the top of my head.

The later will require a lot of modifications. The Rally Oz 2002 car was a Group N Impreza, while for the two Japanese Rallies Possum competed in his own Group A machine.

Before this tragedy occured I was looking into the required conversions for a Group A Hokkaido (which Possum won) or Alpine Rally (finished second in his first tarmac rally). Might make it my next project now.

I got some pictures of his older WRX from a feature on it in an old Motor magazine I can take a photo of if you like.

Want to know why Peter was nicknamed Possum Bourne? Just read it in this article(Don't know if you know this already):

"Peter Bourne didn't always have the knack for keeping cars on the road. The 44-year-old multiple rally champion trashed his first car after swerving to avoid a possum at the top of his driveway, in the process punting mum's car down a bank, writing it off. Mates are the same everywhere, and his started calling him Possum."

More facts? Possum debuted in rally in 1979 driving a self built Mk1 Cortina, he came third in his first rally. He signed up with Subaru in 1983. His WRX wore the plates 'ROJ' as a tribute to the late Doctor Rodger Freeth, Bournes former co-driver. Killed in 160km/h accident in 1993 during Rally Australia.
Don't know if anyone already knew this but I found it interesting anyway, don't know if it's been posted before either.

After what happened, I'm really keen on making a model of one of his cars. It's really good to know that there are infact Studio27 decal sets to make his cars.

Just a small note on Peters nickname and the real Legend.
He was actually driving home from night school in his mums car on the gravel road he lived down. I cant remember what the car was. As he came around a bend there was a possum sitting up in the middle of the road looking at him in the lights. We all used to see if we could hit them(cruel I know but we were all young and foolish) the possum took off across the road and Pete swerved to chase it and in the process went up the bank and hit a tree - just like a possum.
His first car was as Lowryda stated a Mk1 Cortina, self built with a Olds engine in it. It was a real beast. To us that new him, he was a legend then.
Pukekohe was where we grew up and although we were not best mates or anything like that we did know each other well enough to say gidday and have a drink if he was ever in the pub with the boys.
I had been in Australia nearly 10 years and hadn't seen Possum in probably 15 but I went to see the start of the Qld rally in Caloundra a couple years back knowing he would be there. I was just standing in the crowd watching him sitting in the car talking to one of his crew before the event started and he looked at me, then looked again and got out of the car to say hello and ask what I was doing there etc. Possum was that sort of guy. He never forgot.
He will be missed and I too will be looking into building a model of one of his cars so I never forget the living legend that I had the pleasure of knowing.

I have the S27 decals and kit ready to build his WRC car. I think I might get to it now.

RIP Possum

I may have a second set if anyone is interested.

Found some more Possum Bourne decals, this time from LauBak Productions. LBP has a sheet for the Hasegawa Group A Impreza. Event is the '94 Hong Kong-Beijing Rally which Possum won on his way to the Asia Pacific title that year.

Link is L.B. Productions (http://jove.prohosting.com/%7Elaubak/decal/decal.htm)

LauBak's decals are great, will have to get this sheet with my winnings from the BMOM comp :D
