Alright, so I had the Talon for a few months until last week I was driving and noticed a rather large tuft of white smoke/vapor out of my exhaust and of course the car started overheated. I promptly pulled over and shut the car off before the temps got very high.
Of course the HG had blown. So I tore into the motor to discover that this clearly wasn't the first time it happened on this motor as calcium deposits were everywhere including the turbo, and that whoever rebuilt the motor after it was blown originally did a terrible job.
So I decide heck, why not just do a rebuild? So I bought myself a bare block that was already machined and bored to 85.5mm and decided to go to work. I just need someone else to look over my part list and tell me if I am missing anything major. This is what I have already bought so far, if I am missing anything really important let me know, It's been three years since I last built a dsm motor so I am sure I forgot something.
Motor is already set up with no balance shafts or oil squirters
JE pistons 85.5 mm
Eagle Rods
Piston rings
stock crank
ACL bearings rod and main
OEM Timing belt
OEM water pump
OEM oil pump
New OEM main seal kit
ARP Main and Head studs
Cometic MLS gasket for 85.5
Head
New minor ported head
HKS 272 Cams w AEM cam gears
Ferrea 6000 valves
Supertech Dual valve titanium springs
Supertech bronze valve guides
Viton valve seals
VC gasket
I feel like I am missing something other than stuff that will come off the block and I plan on buying new tensioners that are not yet on the list. So let me know what you see (or more importantly don't see)!
