Engines?

I read that 1st gen have a "tougher" motor than the 2nd gen. Mainly because they changed heads(?) so if i start to build my 2nd gen should i eventually look at swapping heads for a first gen or aftermarket? If someone with more knowledge than magazines please educate me thanks. :machinegu RUMORS

You should eventually start looking at swapping the block b/c thats were the real problem is. My 95 Talon developed crankwalk and the engine was toast. I swapped in a 92 block rebuilt with performace parts and kept my 95 head. After a few bolt ons she is fast as hell, so it worked out ok.

Why would you keep the 2g head?

Cost, I didn't have the money at the time(still don't) and the block was in major need replacement. The head was in perfect condition and it fit nicely.

ITs an easier way to pass smog and it allow's you to keep the stock CAS. This was you will not be throwing any CEL's. If you do a straight swap, the stock 95 ecu will determine the cams angle from the 1st gen cas and read mis-fire. Yet, you can do a 6bolt swap with some minor re-wire job, and two vacum inlets on the TB will have to be blocked off but you will throw a CEL. I don't remember if some one figured out a way how to go around that though...

You just rewire a 1G CAS to correct that. I'm switching to a 1g CAS just for the stronger timing.
