Back from the Model Shop

Hey Peeps!
Got back from the model shop. I bought ALL of the supplies I need to complete my Rally Lancer. Repeat: ALL of the supplies. Now all procrastination is only on my end. I bought all the masking tape (TAMIYA!), glues, brushes, paints (SPRAY PAINT!), tweezers and all sorts of other neat stuff I need. I spent about $70. Included in that is....... A Revell Acura Integra Type R. It was cheap and highly recommended, not to mention the great how-to it was featured in Scale Auto Enthusiast. I start tomorrow with painting. I'm going to do the Integra first. I'll make it red, but I'll need you guys help to pick out what style backend and wheels to use. I'll post pics a little later. This is going to be soooo much fun!! :D:D:cool:

Wanna know about coincidences? At the same time I was spending money to buy a red Integra Type R model, my friend was buying the turbocharger for his red Integra Type R!

The guy at the model shop was so cool. He helped me buy everything I needed, told me what I really needed to get right now, and what I needed to get later if I kept modelling up (which I intend to!). What's coolest is that the bill came up 2 bucks more than I had and he gave me a discount so I could buy everything!

I also found an AutoArt Mitsu Lancer Evo VI diecast model. I guess that's always an option if I botch the model. :D

I have one question before I begin... I know you put numerous coats of paint on the body, but what about smaller parts that you have to brush? Like exhausts and seats and other stuff?

i try to spray everything as much as possible.. it just looks so much better then brushing.. but small details such as engine details and steering wheel.. dash board colors..etc i brush.. I even spray the seats. on my cars.

Seats is a bad example. But like steering wheel and engine parts. How many coats of brushed paint?

light colors.. 2 coats, dark colors and metalic colors.. 1 good coat is enough usually.. it's all after priming of cause :)

Well it looks like you have your self well set up now....goodluck with the kit.

As pkw1 said....spray as much of the model you can.

Are you going to use those crazy FnF decals? If so, you'll be the first in here! :lol2:

Keep us posted. We want regular reports. ;)

The graphics in FnF were soooooo gawdy! Especially on the Supra. I bet they slowed the car down at least 5 seconds on the quarter mile. Bleh! Do I spray while parts are still on their trees? I realize I can't do this if not all the parts are the same color.

am I the ONLY one that doesn't leave the parts on the trees to paint?

I guess I'm just a real picky guy who likes to cut each piece out sand/shave down all the rough edges and (molding lines), prime them, sand them again (to desire texture) then use the back of the model box, put some double side tape on, then tape the parts down to spray.... :o

That's a good idea. I just lose my double-sided tape too often. I lose a lot of stuff. :( :bloated:

BTW, go get an avatar. ;)

What is an avatar?

Twist

you need to get one too. Avatars are the little things under your name. For example, I have the NSX/S2000 and Vash the Stampede avatar I made myself. Jay has a pic from the Nightmare before X-Mas. Avatars become available after 100 posts. Now go get one by clicking on profile and then edit options. Go now!

Your not alone !!!....its a case of having to clean/sand etc when you do a Revell Kit.

Everytime I try to get one it says that the pic is too big. How do you change the size of it?

Just got back from the hobby shop. It had a pretty slim selection of autos but had friggin military kits up the ying-yang. I got my primmer, tamiya putty for fixing my masacerd RX-7 body and also this lonely looking Tamiya Nissan R390 GT1. I hope I can give it a nice home....I love that friggin car. :)

It took all my resolve to not buy $200 worth of kits there. Porsche GT3, Ferrari, Castrol NSX, New Celica... :( I'll go bankrupt if I visit a hobby store with a good seletion. :)

Yeah I'm saving that bad boy for when I get my skillz up there a bit. I could see someone going crazy on the engine and suspension. But damn it's nice. :)

Anyone here done that kit?

It's on my want list, along with the Toyota GT-One, but I can't buy more until I finish some of the kits I already have. :(
