First off, No I am not getting rid of my civic
Now, I am thinking of getting another ride, so i can park the civic for awhile and work on it and still have a car. Right now my targets are either a
86-91 2nd Gen Mazda RX-7
http://kbb.com/VehicleJPegs/BHMARX7TURBO911.JPG
or the 93-95 3rd gen RX-7
http://kbb.com/VehicleJPegs/BHMARX7931.JPG
All I know for sure its going to be a RWD. I would think about something more new, but don't think I will have that much money for it. Tell me what you guys think.

so i see everyone agrees the 3rd gen is damn sexy. I was tryin to get Fried Circuit, one of my friends, to get an Rx7 also, one of us have a 2nd gen and the other with a 3rd gen. Be like the Takehashi(sp?) brothers from Initial D

sorry eh rich tony. lol. give me a call when u gotta spend lots of money on getting a new motor. oh if you didnt know, the 3rd gen rx7 motors dont last very long, because it has shitty seals and a shitty exhaust mani. i wouldnt advise anyone to get 3rd gen rx7. 13b-rew sucks as a motor

yea, I got the SCC on buying a 3rd gen RX7, listing all the things to look for and everything. So I will be looking out for that. But if you can get a 13b running good, those things can be monsters

My brother had a first gen RX-7....I think it was 1979 or something like that....it was the first year they made them here I know that....It was an automatic which sucked, but so much fun to drive......nothing is better than gettin on the gas coming around a corner and having the ass end slide out just a little on you :smoka:

the only way to get those things runnin good is to 1. upgrade to a single turbo, everybody goes t78. 2. have the engine rebuilt with 3mm apex seals, and you would probably want to rebuild it like every 60,000 miles just to make sure u dont blow a gasket which can warp the rotor which will cost u a new motor.
yeah i got this from an issue of scc, the article was on the 13brew motor itself. wasnt really a buyers guide

nah, there is a RX7 buyers guide, it was a couple months ago.
and lisa, you figured me out. I know they are a little pricey, but im waiting a nice car also. Hell if i knew I could afford it, I would go for a Scooby WRX, I love those things. Damn sexy just stock.

if you get the 3rd gen rx7, it is screaming for a 20b swap and the JDM front end. Makes it look SO much more masculine. an AE86 would be cool too.

Well I think I'm gonna get the 3rd gen. I really want a stylish car also. Don't get me wrong I love the 2nd gen also, but just not as sexy as the 3rd gen. But before this happens, I gotta get my current car paid off, then Ill go for the RX7:D

If you're gonna worry about money at all, I'd not recommend the FD.
How about:
FC RX-7 (on your list already ;))
S13 240SX (kinda boring w/ the US motor)
SW20 MR2 (Nice! :) Like a mini-Ferrari!)
JZA70 Supra (yum! :licker: )
All are RWD. :sun:
And also, I don't belive that rotary engines are un-reliable, it's just that they're much more maintenance-intensive than reciprocating motors, especially when boosted.

Is it just me or are the 80s Japanese sport coupes become MUCH less common? I never see FC, MA70 or Z31 cars on the road anymore... My vote is for a well maintained 89-92 FC w/ stock hood scoop + rear spoiler (the Efini package?).
Obviously, the FD will be quite a bit more $ initially + maintenance, maintenance, maintenance; Also, I think its tough(er) to get a bank loan on a 93-95 car...

I think here in the U.S. only the FC Turbo IIs had the hood scoop, because they were the only ones with the TMIC.
Ditto that on the Z31, too. I forgot that one. :) If you're up for engine swaps, you could investigate turning a Z31 300ZX into the 200ZR: a Z31-bodied car w/ an RB20DET(T?) motor. :coolguy:
