Need help with new car.

Okay, with this new civic, I would like to get the a6 motor started, so I know if it is good, and the trans is good. But, it will not start. It cranks, but doesnt start. The guy has like three dizzy's he has tried with it, but still no starting.

Here is the thing, I went to check the ECU, and the ECU is not getting any power. It doesnt flash once, showing it is working. So, I swapped ECU's with my civic now, and the same thing happens.

But, there is one plug underneath the dash, by the fuse panel, that I cannot find where it goes. I will get a pic up of it.

Anyone have any rough ideas?

damn, beat me 2 it, yea check the ECU fuse and make sure all connections r good and that no wires r disconnected/cut, also check all those fuses under the hood cuz i'm sure most r pretty important

Is there a specific fuse on the fuse block for the ECU? All the fuses in the fuse block, and engine bay are good.

i have no idea what that plug does, but yea there is a specific fuse for the ECU, look under the hood on the strut tower where those fuses r, read the top and u'll see one labeled ECU

Yeah, all the fuses under there were good...

i've never messed around with my ecu so i dunno, if the battery was dead do u think that might affect it? try takin one of ur batteries over and check that out

New battery. But the starter cranks anyways. Just nothing else.

all i can suggest is check and make sure all plugs r in correctly, and that no wires were cut

i just went out and checked mine......theres a red plug that looks like that that doesent hook up to anything like a clearish red

but there is also a plug that looks like that that plugs into something by the fuse panel there is B3 stamped on a piece of metal where that plug is......if they used a diff color plug for all cars then ide say that one is just an orphan but i cant really tell with that pic

Thats not the plug for the main relay is it ? If the fuse if good and your still not getting power than i would say that it's a ground problem. Check all the grounds on the motor even the one on the thermostat.

Have you check that the box under the hood where the ECU fuse is located along with other fuses is getting power from the battery.

Thats what happened to my car the other day. The cable that connects the box to the positive of the battery broke.

I know of only a few things to check. First is the washer on the end of the fuel rail, if that baby is missing, no start. Also, bust off the fuel line and turn it over, see if it is getting fuel.
Next, take off a plug wire and insert a screw driver so that there is metal from the screwdriver showing. Hold that close to the body and see if there is spark.
If you get fuel and spark, it should fire.
If it doesn't start, check compression. Compression should be anywhere from around 210 on a great motor to around 140 on a going bad motor. My car has about 180 and that is average.
That is all I know to tell you. If all these are good, check the wiring out. Good luck and let us know what you find.

yeah theres a black relay box under the dash, make sure that its not supposed to be plugged into that. tomorrow morning ill check my 90 and my 88 and see if anything under the dash resembles that plug

make sure the firing order is correct
