For those in T.O. or surrounding, Pacific Hobbies at Pacific Mall has closed its doors forever. They SAY they relocated to its former Sheppard location but it won't be the same cuz the Sheppard location is pure R/C and quite small. Pacific Hobbies was one of the larger hobby shops in T.O.
Went to Pacific Mall yesterday... mall nearly empty due to the stupid SARS outbreak. Some stupid f*** spread rumours about ppl at Pacific Mall and some other restaurant having SARS. Pacific Mall and that restaurant are 100% Asian, but SARS is not restricted to affecting Asians only. Half the shops at Pacific have closed down due to lack of business for over a month now.
Excluding Wal-Mart and Zellers, that leaves only 5 hobby shops that I know of in T.O., Markham, and Mississauga... Sigh.... :(
If you live in/near T.O. - create a list of Hobby Shops still remaining...
I know only these shops:
1. Keith's Hobby Shop (Yonge/Sheppard)
2. Collector's Lane Hobbies (Markham/Ellesmere) [all skyhigh prices]
3. Northstar Hobbies (Dundas/Dixie) [fair - skyhigh prices]
4. Pinnacle Hobbies (16th/Markham) [small selection, fair - high prices]
5. Grey Region Comics (Yonge/Wellesley) [large selection, skyhigh prices]

That one is Keith's Model Shop (yonge/sheppard for nearest major intersection... the model shop right across McDonalds right?)
I think they have the best prices so far in T.O..... I used to go there for everything military related cuz their car selection sucks. :(

Well i guess im quite guilty of avoiding pac. mall b'cuz of that rumor, but its better safe then sorry. And i think you missed Dragon Hobby(another place i've avoided lately) which is located at 612 Gerrard(near Broadview + Gerrard) They have a bigger selection than Grey Region and also have better prices. Well either way i dont see myself buying a model from any store in T.O in the future now that i can use my sister's credit card to shop on HLJ and Hobbysearch.

My LHS is in Woodbridge.
RC sports and hobbies - high model prices with little model supplies, but tonnes of RC boats and cars.

I have posted this news a while ago, as I know the owners.
Pacific Models has not closed, they have relocated due to high rent prices. Pacific Models and Advance hobbies at shepard is run by two brothers. ALL stock from pacific hobbies is now at Advanced Hobbies. Same selection, same deals. So nothing that much to freak out about.
They have HUGe selection of model cars in addiiton to R/C there now.
They will be relocating once again when then find a even BIGGER place. Rumoured to be in Richmond hill..

and to further this note, there are still 2 more hobby shops in pacific mall that sell model cars. One that is two stores down from Pacific hobbies, they in my opinion give the better deals and selection as well.
its not a sad day in T.O afterall is it???

If someone spreads rumours about SARS in Singapore and is caught, he will be jailed for 3 years. Anyway, I hope that the SARS outbreak will end as soon as possible so we can go out without worries and get back to our normal life.

This is to any Canadians.I plan on going there tomorrow since my Z is finally out of the shop and I wanted to know a few things.
How are his prices?
Is there a good selection?
Do they sell aftermarket rims for cars?
Do they sell styrene sheets?
Thanx.:)

For car related stuff, if you want just the kits, they have a small selection of recent stuff. For aftermarket stuff, look elsewhere. But hey, you might end up picking up something else so won't hurt to go anyway.
