I hate them wheels! Why would you bother wasting the money on them? Speaking of money how much do they cost for a model?

Don't feel too bad. I saw a set a couple weeks ago on a parked Yukon Denali. I damn near had a wreck looking at them!
The wheels appear to be spinning while the vehicle is setting still. It's some type of two piece design and the outer "layer" of the wheel spins freely. Damn disturbing the first time you see them if you ask me.

You fit aftermarket wheels to lower the unsuspended weigth, and improve the cars handling. As those things must be hevy as led, they are pointless. But if you like them, go for it.:machinegu

The real wheels are actually not that heavy just b/c they have the spinner on them. The wheel is heavy b/c of its size, but its still not that heavy. The spinners are just a gyro which in retrospect is nothing special and makes you quesiton why they took so long to make something like that with "old" technology.

http://www.jadatoys.com/ makes them. I don't think they sell the Spintek rims by themselves (yet). But I'm sure they will in the future.

I think the real ones would be pretty damn heavy. A "Blingin" 20inch rim weighs about 50lbs (22.7kg for you non-Americans;) ) If you add a couple diameter inches, and the spinning front piece that would be even heavier. So I think the could get over 60lbs per rim!!

i think the wheels have been arround for about 50 years...but a french bloke (living in america) decided to start making them again recently...
i dont like them either. i watched a program about the tuning market in america and i was shocked to see a rolls royce been fitted with 22" versions of these little buggers:eek:

My sisters boyfriend just ordered them for his 1:1 Tahoe. I cant wait to see them.
As for models, I think if you buy 2 sets of rims, cut the center rim part off one set of rims, drill a hole in the center, then on the other set put a small enough peg to stick in the cut out rims, youd have something like that. Just and idea. What do you guys think?

you're just jealous b/c you can't afford them...
the first company in the US to have them was sprewell racing, and theirs are still exclusive, going for about 10k for the set.
they were really tasteful, and not overly heavy, not any heavier than any other 20" rim for a mercedes or bmw..
why?
theirs are made of billet aluminum. know how light that is?
pretty damn light. the outer spinner isn't that heavy, it can't be, or it wouldn't spin much. they're made from thin, but strong aluminum...
so originally, they were badass.
now there are so many ugly ass knockoffs, and you can actually get the spinner portion itself, to install on any set of 20s.
lame.
they're kinda ricey now. they were cool before though...

Okay boys here it is, straight! Davin is the original spinning wheel. It was first shown on MTV cribs by Latrell Spreewell. He didn't design 'em or make 'em he's just a b-ball playa. He bought 'em just like Shaq, T-mac, AI, Nelly, Ludacris, Mike Bibby or Jerry Rice. The 24's retail for 14K (no tires). They're forged 6061 aluminum, 4 piece, and all stainless steel contruction. They are by far the best quality and most well engineered wheels on the plant. When ya'll make big, Davin's is what you be wantin', no joke. Anything that isn't a Davin, is cheap and infearior quality. Go to davinwheels.com. They go 24's on my Hoe!

Yes, he has a little store in the san gabriel valley. His brother runs the shop. I don't think we've sold him a set of wheels since last year. He tried to get us to do a special wheel with him but they don't have the horsepower. He also used my 1.0 design for his shoe box (without permission). He'll take your money for a set of Davin's but, try and get the wheels. He definitly doesn't have them in stock. If you can afford Davin's go to Wheel Warehouse in Anahiem or Globe Motorsports in LA. Attached is the pic of his car that was on MTV cribs last year with our 1.0's. I'm combing these chat rooms and bulletin boards to give people real information. I've been engineering and designing wheels for over 12 years and Davin's are the best. No Bull!!!

I spun those rims today at my school parkng lot, my friends friend had them on his GS400 and I was amazed at how light the outer plate was. It did'nt spin for long though, I think if it was heavier it would spin for much longer.
P.S I was'nt afraid of getting a cap busted in my ass, like Jay :D J/K ;)
