Just getting started and thought I’d post a few pics. I have wanted to build one of these since Warren built his first one last year. So far the kit seems surprisingly simple, with everything appearing very straightforward.

I used Duplicolor chrome spray on the wheels after reading a few comments about it on this site. I was very pleased with the appearance.

I’ll try to post a little more as the days pass and the kit progresses.

They are the wheels that come with the kit and they are indeed sharp!

Worked on this kit almost allday (well it was allday according to my wife) and have most everything painted and ready to assemble over the course of the week.

Sorry for the crappy indoor pics....I know it looks red/pink/crap, but it is true TS-31.

More to come....

Thats coming along well Rick. I built this model as my 3rd ever - I wish I had known of AF before I built it! I messed up the gull wing doors tho - so they are now taped shut!! :( I'd probably do the Team Phoenix one once my 'to-do' stack gets a little smaller

That is great, are those holes in the side black paint or actually holes for something?

Thanks for the compliments on the wheels. I was afraid they were a little too shiny. I managed to screw up two of the tire decals and I'm trying to find some replacements. If not I guess this car will have blackwall tires!

I remembered you complaining about the paint and I was a nervous wreck when I sprayed it.

Someone mentioned that it looks like orange peel, but it must be the affects of resizing the pics, because it came out smooth as glass.

At this point they are holes for body panels. It can be made out a little better in the first pics, when it was still under primer.

No, they are not too shiny, they are perfect. I watched the first race of the season 2003 yesterday (sunday) and the rims of the cars were so shiny, too.

It has been a slow week for modeling at my house. Have the interior finished and will move on to the body next. Hope to have new pics up by Sunday.

BTW- Anyone have extra tire decals for this kit? I managed to destroy two of them!!

good job so far rhmatt.

You may wanna request the decals from Blowncivic who is doing a street version of the Opel. Check out his thread.

Gluck though as he may still use the tire decals for his street version.

I have to say the pics are crap, guess I need better lighting!

Moving a little slower than some of the Opel projects on the board, must be my old age!

Various parts on my cutting board as I roam the house looking for decent lighting:

Thanks for the comments, it looks ok in the pics, but I have a few gripes about it overall.

The body refuses to sit on the chassis correctly, the right rear is little high.

The door hinges are a little tricky to get right, instructions say not to overtighten, they should say "don't tighten at all".

The decals were great, although I tried a new product called SuperSol. It's a very strong solution, actualy removed some acrylic paint on my mirrors!

All in all I'm pleased, time to move on to my next project!

Thanks again for all the kind comments.

I've tried to improve my work with each kit and to be honest I wanted to throw this one off the table a few times! Was a real test of patience to get the doors to operate. If any of you build one take my advice....don't tighten the screws at the body. Just run them in far enough to make contact then back them out about 1/2 a turn. If the hinge doesn't feel sloppy, the doors won't open. I also put a little oil on them to help the sliding action.
