An excellent weekend in the city!

Just parked up after a 5 hour drive home from the city.:)

Went up for a couple of days 'r and r' with Spec2 girl and moondog....
an excellent weekend.:ylsuper !

great fun hooting around Auckland in some excellent Skylines,checking out the shops,the restaurants,and the weird and wonderful cars that cruise the central city.

Saturday night highlight was a spin in Razor's Skyline GT-R.As a small demonstration of the car's capabilities,he put his foot down at about 50 km/h,and spun the wheels,no mean feat at the best of times,but in a 4wd?:eek: .

I was,at that point,impressed.Did he take his foot off the throttle.?No!:D

In a few seconds we were off the dial,hurtling along a deserted stretch of motorway at somewhere around about 240km/h[150mph] with about 1000rpm to spare.Sadly,but wisely,he decided to button off at that point, and slowed down to accomodate the other road users who seemed to be reversing down the motorway towards us at a rate of knots.

A final demonstration on a quite sideroad had the car hurtling from standstill to 100km/h before I could say "Sh*t!!!!".

Sorry,but no.More than one of our group is camera shy.:D ,and the best parts happened after dark.:silly2:

It was great to catch up again Naki. It's been over a year since our last meeting.

I have to chuckle a bit. Normally i don't drive like that but the power of the demonstration well it's just tha :D
I hear you on the knowing when it was time to back off. As you said we had clear sailing for about 2kms to the cars in front of us. Man too bad they were like parked up in the motorway aye.
Not too bad for not much done to the little tart.

Maybe the next time you come back up shel'll be pushing a bit more poke should be all good then :smoker2:

moon plays a mean blues guitar,and is a demon at amusement arcade racing games,and Speccy is still shopping.Both of them love the city lifestyle but hate the traffic.They still know where the best restaurants are,and it looks like they're both too busy for the forums.Shame the IT nazi at Speccy's place of work has locked her out,she's still bored at work and it's the only free time she has for posting.Moon has exams coming up and is desperate for a transfer that would cut his commuting time to a minimum.They're both still neat people,always will be,and the board would be better if they had time to post!

Mine was a quiet Friday night followed by drinking all Saturday night and coming home at 8am....:bloated:

Sounds like an absolute blast!!! I hope to report back from Carlisle, PA next weekend with TONS of pics and AWESOME stories to top out even last year's car show, not to mention my ski trip. It'll be tough, but I'm up for the challenge!!! I'm not sure I can beat the Skyline tale here, though. :o

The diesel may be overdue for replacement,but it's all mine.I don't have to pass a chunk of my salary to a finance company every month for the priviledge of keeping my transport,nor do I have to hand it back when Iquit my job. I'm not under any illusions about the quality of the diesel,which is why it is being replaced in a couple of weeks.I've had it for three years,and I have a firm offer for the power unit when I take the car off the road that is higher than the price I paid for the car.Or I might just keep it,rice the hell out of it and run it in the first demo derby of the new season later this year.:bandit:
