every time i hook this shiz up the protection LED comes on and the amp turns off anyone know any reasons this would happen other then bad wires i checked all the connections...could it be ground wrong?

3 things cause the protection circuit to kick in

1) overheating ... don't think that's the problem here
2) short in the power supply wires between 13V and GND ..... look at the wires VERY carefully, just one stray strand can cause this
3) (most likely cause) - you have your speakers hooked up for too low of an impedance for the amp to handle.

the only other option is that the amp is bad

checked into all but the second one listed and its not it.....so tommorow i tear out the wiring and start over

try putting another amp in it's place first. might just be a bad amp.

i tried that and tried different Fuses...

its a 300watt amp and 2 350 watt 12"s with 8' wiring

also you never want your ground longer than 2 feet and the same gauge as your power

well it was a full Rockford Fosgate Amp kit with less than a foot of ground.....same gauge as wire
