not really sure about that but i know with my 88 ram50 i used to have
i had problems with it running rough and over heatin but i think that was a head gasket i changed o2 sensor plugs wires new carb gasket all kins of shit but with ur problem im not sure.. i would see if u could get it hooked up to a computer and check the codes
