RE-Wires up the BUTT!

Hey everyone, I have a question for all the electricity experts out there. So heres the situation:

I tapped my fuse so that my fogs come on whenever I want them on. In the process, I decided to make everything clean, and sodder everything. But I did fuck up on the cleanliness part. I used a variety of gauge wires (anywhere from 12-18). So I basically whored the gauge sizes.

I also decided to re-wire my clearance lights with my cleared corner lamps so now my original clearance light acts as my signal (I popped in an amber bulb) and visa versa (Im a terrible speller). I wasnt consistant in gauge size on this project either.

My question to everyone is, will this fuck anything up? The difference in gauge size, and the difference in wattage extraction. The wattage for the corner is 21 (W) and thewattage for the clearance is 5 (W) I've had it like this for a while now (Maybe 3 months) and everything seems fine, but I dont wanna cause any long term damge. as long as the power being sent to any of the lights doesnt exceed the amount any of the wires can handle, you will be ok. meaning, if it sends too much power and one wire cant handle it, you will blow a fuse.

I dont think it matters how big of wire you use. When using wire, it doesnt have a max amount of power that it can handle flowing through it all the time. It only takes the amount of power that it needs and no more/no less (im guessing :D)

Same thing with car audio power wire though. Using wire thicker than what you need will not screw up anything, because the amp takes what it needs.

It only matters if your wire is to small. for those lights you should use at least 16 awg

It's all about RESISTANCE, my friend! Thinner (i.e., smaller gauge) wires offer greater resistance across connecting points. Kinda like an expressway. Too many cars = backlog! I don't think you'll have any problems, as long as the resistance isn't exceeded. But I'm sure your fuses will catch the backlog and blow! AznVirus put it best, I think.

But that's just MY $0.02 worth!

so in other words, the gauge issue is cool...
what about the blowing the fuse issue.. should i keep the mod or go back to oem style??

Personally I like it, makes my car look like it has daytime driving lights...

well if you blow a fuse, just double the amps the blown fuse used. if you have a blown fuse it may be because one of the guage wires cant handle the power and rebounded back to the fuse so just replace all the small guage wires. or the blown fuse may be because it is just plainly drawing too much power. but my advice is to just double the blinker fuse just in case. :D hope it makes sense.

how do I make it so that my new clearance light isnt sooo bright? and so that my new blinker gets a little brighter? Thanks,

so you want to draw more power from the clearance light to the blinker? not sure how to do that.
