Both of my differential seals are shot, I'm planning on replacing both half shafts and seals. My question is, isn't there bearing assemblies for each side, and how difficult a job are we talkin' to replace those bearings? I can't seem to find any information on what to expect after shaft removal such as do these bearings just sit in there..etc.

See if these will help.

The bearings very seldom go bad.

The axel tube on right side has to be removed to get to bearing and seal.
left side stub shaft has to be pulled to get to seal.

Is stub shaft axel is not lose or shaft pitted where bearing runs I would not replace bearings.

Also make sure vent is open when you replace seals.

Really? No problem and thanks, but why?

A plugged vent will build up pressure and blow/make seals leak.:lol2:

I understand now, I thought you were talking about the top fill plug for some reason when I read your post...:headshake...duh! Thanks for mentioning it, I might overlooked that.

I also have to replace the left bearing and seal. These differentials come in 9.25 and 8.25 ring gear configurations. Are the output shaft seals and bearings the same for both diffs? MT-2500, thanks for the heads up on the vent. I would have overlooked that too.

There is 2 different seal.
Not sure what seal for what rear ends.
best to match up o measure old one.

Is the bearing bad?
If so it may have damaged the axel to.
Check where the axel bearing runs for damage.
If so they make a axel saver bearing for them.
Also make sure the rear axel vent is open to.
