[inspired by a current VW Passat commercial]

If you could call yourself in the past and speak for only 30 seconds, 'when' would you call yourself, and what would you say?

I'd call myself when I was 11. Right before the hockey game where I broke my leg. And say "Whatever you do Don't play in that game today"
see then I would most likely be playing hockey now instead of not being able to play anymore:mad:

Call myself at 15 and say: Don't waste your time on her and save all the money you can so you can buy a Lancer Evolution.

p.s. If I could call myself in a way different from VW, I'd give myself some good stock tips and sports scores.

i'll take a different angle...

since i don't really want to change the past, i'd call myself from tomorrow night, and tell my current self the winning powerball numbers. that way i'm not changing the past, i'm making the future how i might want it!

Well... You can't call the future (it's not in the 'rules'), but what you said is the same as calling yourself yesterday night with today's winning numbers... Same diff... You'd only be altering one day's worth of past...

except, as far as the "me" of right now knows, nothing will be changed, it will happen for the first time. it would change for the other me, that doesn't exist in this timeline, i guess... the difference would be that a lot of you are saying that you would change what would happed by talking to yourself in the past, mine would be making something happen because someone from the future told me how to do it. you're telling yourself, i'm listening to myself...

wow that made no sense!:bloated:

I feel that bro...I also would make a call at 15 and say don't bother with her, the perfect girl is just a few more years away. Dang that would've saved me alot of trouble. :(

I would call myself at 22 and say get rid of your girlfriend before you marry her and have kids. Buy a Ferrari because if you do not have the girlfriend you could afford it. Don't buy the jetski because it will just stop working correctly and Yamaha will do nothing to help you get it fixed even though you bought the extended warranty, and defiantely do not try a back flip on the wakeboard because you will break your leg in two places and have screws in your ankle the rest of your life.

I would have called myself on the evening of June 2, 2000, and issued a warning that if I went out that night, I was a few hours away from doing $6K of damage from my Integra.....

That or I would have called myself in college and urged myself to be a male prostitute and gotten all the ass that I could while I was there!!! :D

I'd call myself before I accepted my current uni position, telling him to become a ski bum and live the dream instead.

You know what? I think I might actually get a list of the names of the people who died in the Sept. 11th attacks, and call myself with that list of people to call. I know that's a lot of calls (3,000!), but who else could I call? Port Authority of NY and NJ? The White House? It is hard to know who could have been contacted to convey the threat seriously, and have it responded to as such. Who knows, maybe such threatening calls were actually made beforehand, and the fact that they were made has been covered up, so as to not create a media scandal.

I truly can't decide.First instinct is to say call myself 1n 1986 and say 'don't take this girl out,it'll end in tears'.Or perhaps I could ring myself the day before Phil died, and say to myself 'Mate,it doesn't matter if he is your boss,if you see him acting strangely, call someone who can help him.'.Perhaps I could go back to 1979 and tell myself that the Navy is not half as much fun as the television recruiting makes it out to be.Maybe I could ring myself a thousand different times with a thousand different pieces of advice, but in reality,I'll make the best of what's on offer based on the decisions that I've already made. This is not a 'dress rehearsal'.:)

Id call myself on March 13, 2003, at 12:03:09, and tell me "Tell Heather to not go to Trevors cottage this weekend. If she goes, go up there saturday morning at 7, and wait for them to leave. Then dont let her go on the ski hill, because she'll die at 11am" At the time, who'd have known in 23 hours she'd be dead?

I rather like the old analogy, if you save one life, you save the world. I think the world is worth one 30 second phone call to the past, but He apparently doesnt.
