Today, LeBron James, by far the best high school basketball player ever decides to forgo college and enter the NBA Draft in June. I think this guy has the most potential next season and if he proves to be a wise investment and performs outstandingly will be rookie of the year. He'll undoubtedly be the #1 draft pick. What does any other baskeball fans think about this?

Yea, from all I've read and seen of him he seems really mature for being so young. But the dude looks like hes 24 or something. I hope he doesn't turn out like the kid that went straight from h.s. to pros from Houston. I still don't think he plays much, but I can't even remember his name.

I also have to add that I would definately try for the NBA in his position. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that,IMO, can't be passed up.

Remember Tyson Chandler(BULLS). I played against him his freshman year. We were in the final 4 and lost to them. He dunked on the homie that game. They went on to win the CIF Div 4 championship that year. I was a Senior that year. Ahhhh how time flies:crying:

Lebron isnt going to do good in my opinion in the NBA......well not right away atleast...........because he wont be used to that high level of play..............becuase in high-school its more easy going but as soon as you hit the big leagues expect the shit to hit the fan..........

Can't remember about Staudemier, but Kobe was signed pretty quickly after he graduated I think. I think at the time he was the youngest to sign.

exactly how i see it. Whats the big hurry to play basketball for the NBA?? if they DID draft you you'll get zilch for playing time. The smarter thing to do is go to college and getta degree and by that time you should be even BETTER and/or by that time you will get a bigger signing bonus...

Even if he wanted to go to college, it would have been very hard for him to become eligible, mostly because of his shoe contracts with Nike and Adidas. I think he will do fine in the NBA, since he is probably better than Kobe was in high school, and look how he turned out. He will sadly be playing on either the Cavs or the Nuggets, and the same goes for Anthony...

Ok even if Lebron scored 30 pts a game he still played against HS players.
Carmelo is gonna be drafted 3rd after LBJ and darko Milicic. hes gonna have a better overall NBA career. He played against the best in the NCAA and was still the best, Carmelo just doesnt have the full physical attributes of LeBron.

I'm guessing that LeBron might be like Kobe in his early years...lakerz draft him and the KID (at 19) plays okay... makes some major mistakes in games, and get most of the team against him. He works his problems in 2 years and when he's 20 (almost 21) they win their first champ cuz of him... LeBron is gonna be the same. The transition from HS to Pro is HUUUUGE!!!
Just my 0.02 :D
Just my 0.02 :D

Stodimire;)
It took him two monthes longer than Kobe to Sign....
BTW: Kevin Garnett signed quicker than both of them w/the Timberwolves in 1995.

Not necessarily... The Knicks have a chance to get 3rd pick over the Raptors.
