Seeking advice of experienced builders

Which would be better to use to paint my car, spray paint in a can or using the spray propellant stuff?

pro? im here :D depends what spray propellenbt stuff you r talkin about, ifd its testors "air in a bottle" thing then i say no because i have it and i can do a better job paintbrushing! if u mean airbrush then definately if u have the $$ and such for it

Yea thats pretty much what i meant. Um, one more thing, that propellant or "air in a can", what exactly is that? Im guessing it allows you to use a airbursh without an air compressor? or am i wrong?

Yes, that is exactly what it allows you to do. It will save you money in the long run to buy a nice compressor though. As for which is better, depends on what you are doing. I like to use spray cans, Tamiya paint is really good, when painting bodies. And up until my compressor died on me, :( , I would use the airbrush for interior details and spraying on alclad metalics and such.

Not much of an experienced builder but....Spray cans are good enough. I've tried automotive (duplicolour), but have reverted back to Tamiya cos its so much more easier to use and the finish is awesome! But, don't get me wrong - automotive lacquers are fine as long as you have some patience!! Haven't had any experience with airburshing a body yet.

As for me, I started using out using spray cans and could not get a good, smooth finish so I started using an airbrush and the finishes come out perfect now. It all depends on the person using them, some people can make works of art with spray cans, others can't use spray cans at all. HTH.

P.S:Next time, make the title address everyone on the forum, no matter how experienced they are. I've only been building models for about a year, so I'm not very experienced at it but sometimes inexperienced people can give good advice too.

come on ..............spray cans are better of course..........just look at P-man's model!!

Ive only used spray cans. And I must say of all the brands ive used Tamiya is by far the best.:D
