92 talon tsi , should i buy

Hi i have never owned any kind of mitsubishi car but i came across a car and i ned some advice. Its a blue 92 eafle talon tsi FWD. To start out the owner says the turbo does not work , i looked in there and the turbo is still there and hooked up and they drove it but said it don't work, i guess maybe the bearing would be shot or something? ANyways to move along the owner was driving down the road and the timing belt snapped and i guuess it went bang bang bang and the valved hit the pistons. The owner took it to the garage and they replaced the timing belt and the car would not start , said cyl 1 is getting 90 or so psi in compression and the other 3 zero. Now they only want 500 for the car and its a 5 speed with perfect interior and the body has no damage or rust , just clear coat peeled off in some places. Is it worth fixing and how much would i be looking at to fix this stuff , i can do the work myself.

Thanks

i wouldnt really recommend trying to fix that motor, i'd get the car and just buy a new motor. u could have the car for 500, and the motor for about a grand. 1500 (if u do the work urself) for a tsi is a steal.

What happened is he bent valves when the timing belt broke. If you're lucky, all you should need is new valves & a decent timing belt assembled. That includes all new tensioners/water pump/pulleys & labor. It depends on how bad of shape the piston is in as well. I would keep the block in the car, get a rebuild to fix the broken parts & a used 14b turbo off of dsmtrader.com. I think with labor(assuming you let a shop do it) & parts should come to about 1250$-1750$. If you buy a used engine, it could have any problems that you don't know about. With your rebuild, your mechanic can pinpoint, or show you any troubled areas to look for. I would definitely pick it up. These cars scream!!! Check out dsm.org dsmtalk.com & dsmtrader.com.
