My girlfriend has a 93 Corsica in which rain leaks into the car up at the firewall area. Ive tried a couple times re-sealing the cowl cover and the vent that is underneath it, but to no avail. there doesnt seem to be any leakage around the windshield and the drains under the cowl covers arent clogged either.
anyone fixed one that was doing this? if so, how ?
Cyclone is right. There is a weld on the firewall that sometimes either breaks loose or isn't welded in the first place. This is a very common thing with the corsica and can easily be fixed. I can't remember right off the bat where this weld is, but I kind of remember that is in the vents running along the bottom of the windshield. I'll have to do some looking up for the info again.
Had a '94 Corsica that did this same thing. Water leaked into the passenger floorboard. Seems like it only did it when it rained really hard. I ran a bead of silicon along the bottom of the windsheild and that seemed to have fixed it.....I think. The car was mostly in the garage. But, I sold the car to my son for $1 when I bought my Blazer two months ago. (had to let him borrow the dollar )

water leaks inside corsicas in 2 places. first - under cowling - I used roofing cement and took off cowling (plastic pieces under wipers and wipers) and applied cement liberally especially around rust areas. Also on the firewall under rack and pinion steering the seam breaks and water leaks in. this results in a flooded floorboard. I used sheetmetal and silicon to patch the holes or rusted out areas. I had to pull up the carpet on driver's side to shine a light to see the crack in seam. After I patched the seam - you may have to follow it all the way across to the passenger side - the water stopped flooding my floorboard. This was a lake before I figured out the problem. Please let me know if this helps you as it solved my 1996 corsica problem.
I have the same problem with my 96 corisca. Glad to know its not just me and my luck. But I really don't have the means to fix it myself. Same thing as the others happens with me: heavy rains AND here's the difference, my car on a downward slope. If I park it on a hill, no puddle on my driver's side floor after a hard rain. The cowl is the what exactly?
my 92 corisica has the same problem i have no clue where its coming from and at one point the front drivers side passager side and passenger side back seat all had water onthe floor and i have no clue where its from
i have a 93 with the same problem. heh, mine puddles on the drivers side floor in the front, and the passenger and drivers side floor in the back. it is really annoying.
I had a water leak in my 95. I took every thing out of the car down to the bare metal. I found 2 spots that leaked. 1 - drivers side at top below cowl. I duct sealed, and it seemed to stop. 2- passenger side, this was caused by the heater door. I found that the seals around the flap were not seating very good. I bought a new heat door assembly from the dealer, everything has been good so far.
I've got an 89 that leaked where the steering column goes through the firewall. You could park on a downhill grade, that worked for me until i got the leak fixed.
I just fixed this same problem on my mother in laws car!
When it rained the drivers side floorboard would get wet. It would get about an inch of standing water in it. I looked under the wiper cowl like everyone is suggesting and even looked all around the fire wall for a place the water was coming in. I sealed every hole I laid my eyes on but nothing seemed to work. I finally found the weather stripping around the driver door was a little out of wack. I put it back to normal and the floor hasnt been wet since!! So in short dont overlook the obvious. The weather stripping around the door is there for a reason so give it a look see. Hope this helps.
