which year is best? 68, 69 or 70?
hiya, i'm a 23 year old male in england and i'm looking to buy my first american car. i've always liked the '68, '69 and '70 Z28's. at the moment i'm geared towards getting a yellow '69 z28, nothing too fancy, just a mildly tuned lump and european styling, ie 18" rims, lowered stance, black leather, chrome roll cage, but all that'll come later.
what model would you recommend?
by the way, i can't make my siggy work....can anyone help me out?

I'd try for a 68 if you can.
Type [ img ] at the begining......

i'd like a '68 but with a '69 front, in yellow with black stripes on the bonnet, slammed with 18" chromes, black leather interior with buckets and a chrome cage, and a blindin' sound system!

You read Street Machine, eh? I loved that yellow Camaro. I'm guessing you saw that mustardy-like coloured one they had recently.
BTW those things you mentioned aren't really European things. Plenty of American ones have those things done to them.
But anyway, I've always personally prefered the 69 over the 67 and 68 models. The front looks better to me and it just looks more chisled and crisp.
I'd say a 69 Z28 was pretty fancy! I'd be happy if I could have even a base model.
IMO the 69 and especially the Z28 model is one of the best styled cars ever made.
The 1970 cars are different. I equally like the second gen with the shark nose.
Heres one I'm sure you've seen in the magazine:

I added a better background.
I really don't know what to say as I'd kill for any of them. With the luxury of choice it would be between a 69 and 70 for me. But I'd want both as they're quite different looking cars.

Yes I'm British, despite the random flag by my name.
I'm from Devon.

yeah that black one is pure heaven. i would love to have that one. like you said i'd like to have them all. i'd probably will but i want to know what i'd be better off first. i really like them all thats why its hard to choose.
the '68 has a better body but the '69 has a better front. i'm just wondering if they're the same so i could put a '69 front on a '68.
if you look in street machine august 2000, at the back theres that orange '68 camaro. imagine that in yellow with a '69 front and that'll be me!

I remember the orange one. It had all body coloured trim and bumpers.
I prefer the body and front of the 69 so I would easily choose it over a 67/68.
I think they got progressively better each of the first three years.
I haven't heard of anyone swapping the front of one onto another. I wouldn't attempt to guess if it could be done.

anythings possible, being a panel beater by trade i could do but i don't know if underneath the '69 is the same as a '68. it looks as though the '69 is just a remodeled exterior so it could be possible. i've never really got under one or up close to have a look.

I'm sure its just different panels. Thats the way they did things. Also, remember the Firebird was on the same platform.
But I think you should stick with a pure 69. The front suits the crisp side styling.

1969's are more comfortable to drive, 1970's have better suspension geometry for performance. I've had both, and love them both!
