Unessicary wear on clutch due to breaking?

the way you're driving is'nt wearing down the clutch if anything you're wearing down the pressure plate & bearing.you could put it in neutral & release pedal when coming to a stop or just down shift if not completely stopping

No, that can wear the bearing faster, but not the clutch plate. Its most likely you havent learned the ideal way to drive a standard shift car.
