And yet another kit that I've been working on in bits on and off.
The only kit I've been building where I've made a real effort to add detail; mainly with regards to the various bits of plumbing.
I'm not very good at recording what's been done so I'll just post some pics of where it's at right now.
The main parts of the engine have been done and is waiting for the rest of the plumbing (once I've figured out where it goes).

The main oil lines underneath the car are in place and just need final detail touches like the clips in various places.

And the body.

So far, it's just one coat of Tamiya Black on Tamiya Light Grey primer base.
As you can see, the kit has opening doors but alas, incorrect hinging.
I couldn't get a smooth enough scale version of the real hinge so I've come up with a scaled up version. Unfortunately, there isn't a place to locate this hinge properly on the kit.
Luckily, on the real car, the hinge is attached via "arms" that are fixed onto the car's spaceframe. I've replicated this part of the frame to fit inside the passenger section so I can fix the hinges in place as on the real car.
Not a very good shot but this is what you see in the real car anyway...

Looking good.
Very clean work on the chassis and engine and the Body looks great too.
One thing that is a bit weird to me is the screw you use to keep the fron suspension together.

Edit - The fuel filter stands alone. Nice detail on the engine.

Good work so far. I have this kit. I got it because I thought it seemed good value with all the detail, but when I opened it I was disappointed becuase I think the body shape is incorrect. I don't think the rear is correct or the sills (don't tuck under enough) and the front wings aren't high enough. I wish I'd waited and got the latest Fujimi kit which looks superb. I am contemplating getting the Fujimi & combining the 2, but that seems expensive and a bit mad. Maybe I'll wait to see what yours comes out like first!

The screws are what the kit provides to secure the front suspension parts.
I used to see how it looks and yup, they look a bit weird.
I may just have to replace them with simple styrene "plugs".
The front suspension needs to be cleaned up anyway and taken apart to make room for some wiring.

Correct on all three points.
The sides aren't curved enough at the sills and the front wings don't rise as they should. I'm not too bothered really as this build was more about the research and detailing for me. As for the rear of the car, it only requires a bit of sanding to fix unlike the wings and sides where you need to add material, so it isn't too much of an issue.
The Fujimi kit does have a great body but that engine+gearbox is a little disappointing (not that you can see the disappointing bits when the kit is completed). I will probably give that one a go once this one and my Italeri one is done.

I've seen two Revell's GTO kits made but none of them was half so amusing as your builds can be. I was always
wondering how good a Revell's GTO really is and there's no other way to find out than to give it to an expirienced modeler.
I will follow your thread with great interest because I have a Gunze GTO in my stash. :)
BTW... How is your Superamerica/550M hybrid doing? :D

After a bit of impatience, I decided to give the main body a bit of a polish.
After a little bit of sanding with 6000 I moved straight onto Tamiya Coarse before a final rub with Finish.
Gave it a wash and this is what's left.
First of all because I can never get enough side profile shots of the classic cars.

Here you can just about see the sanding I did to fix the rear.
A closer shot.

Here you can see the effects of having not too sharpedges on the body molding.
It looks like the paint is thick but it is just one coat.
Makes me wish I had spent more time puttying and sharpening all edges/openings.

Still, as I said, this is possibly my best Primer coat job ever which made the colour layer really, really easy.

But it's still not perfect.
There are a couple of spots I couldn't quite get to properly so there is still a little texture to work out.
