Hey Chiller670. New Rodeo's, Rodeo Sports & Axioms are built in Lafayette Indiana by Fuji Heavy Industries. The same plt punches out several models of Subaru's as well (plant used to be called "SIA", subarau-isuzu automotive). The Rodeo is in fact a Japanese vehicle that is built in the US. The engine is isuzu's. If you are looking to buy new, you wont find a better deal on a truck based SUV. Got our new 2002 LS 4x4 (last June) for $21700 + tax & fees = around $23500 total out the door price. There are better SUV's out there, but you definately get the most bang for your buck w/ an isuzu. They have higher reliability than most, great power, ride nice and are built well. You can find pretty sweet deals on used ones as well - they don't hold their resale that well. G/luck

Yup, you'd be happy with the rodeo. My 99' rodeo isn't having any problems known so far. It's got a powerful engine and it's tough like a tank. last time i got rear ended by a chevy 2500 and then sandwiched into a dodge dakota. Minimum damage on my rear and front. Well I've got a brush guard in front and a trailer hitch that saved my rear mostly. hehe, but other than that, it's really a tough vehicle. That accident didn't even bend the frame of the car. good luck
I have a 1997, great when it works. Half the time it doesnt. If im you I look at much more info on the net beofre buying. The SUV is notorious for electrical problems, shimmying and bad brakes. So trust me do more research!
hah, sorry, but i guess you just had back luck with yours. Or the way you drive it is hurting your car. N E ways, i believe the rodeo is a tough truck and it is proven to last over 100 grand miles.
DPDUCK99 - You are driving a 6+yr old 85K+mi SUV. You are upset over normal high mileage maintenance issues?? Batteries, starters & alternators are not major issues for this age & mileage on any SUV. A same year & mileage blazer, explorer, jeep would have cost you MUCH more by now, not only in $$$, but in downtime & heartache as well. There are more reliable trucks than isuzu (toy, mitsu, nissan), but isuzu is far more reliable than most. Hopefully you'll get your issues resolved. G/luck

This is an old thread, sorry for bumping. . but.
I live in Lafayette, Inidiana. . very close to SIA (subaru Isuzu plant)
ALL variants of Rodeo / Rodeo Sport are made there, for the world. . the Honda Passport is included in that, as is Holden / Vauxhall / Opel Frontera, Isuzu Wizard, MU. . whatever. . all made here . driven all variants. . hundreds of them, actually. . they're ALL the same. .
avoid auto, if you don't like GM like me. . auto is a GM sourced part.
edit: Isuzu DOES make the engines. . 1991-1992 (which I had) was a GM engine. . holy crap it's bad, too.
