AC problem

I recently put a new head gasket on my 96 Sunfire 2.2L. I bought it broken down but the previous owner bragged about how the AC was the best working part of the car before it broke down.

Well, now I've repaired the car but the AC condenser won't engage at all. It's plugged in and the light comes on in the dash when I turn the AC on but nothing changes. I know the guy was honest because we ride together and he literally GAVE me the car so why lie about the AC.

What can I check? The fuses check out and so does the relay in the engine compartment.

Thanks all.

Re: AC problem

refrigerant leaked out. Condenser would not engage because of safety precaution.
