Evaporator drain 02 taurusrustymac 07-29-2009, 01:25 PM Is there supposed to be a rubber hose attached to the piece of plastic coming out from the firewall? It is in the area of the Evaporator just above the steering rack. Water driplets come out from there but they seem to trickle back towards the fire wall and through the insulation. Is this the drain or do I need to look else where? Please Help bruker 06-13-2010, 04:00 PM I know this is an old thread but does anyone else have this issue? I have an `04 Taurus that is having the same problem of water making it's way back into the passenger compartment and soaking the insulation. inafogg 06-13-2010, 04:09 PM yeah little old but the above info should solve your evaporator leaking inside car problem by cleaning out the rubber tube carefully not to damage evap bruker 06-13-2010, 04:44 PM inafogg, thanks for the quick reply. What info are you refering to? inafogg 06-15-2010, 02:02 PM if your evaporator is leaking from inside you can try cleaning the drain the drain hose comes through firewall on passanger side about mid way down firewall. if you need more help start a new thread as this 1 is an old thread Good Luck bruker 06-18-2010, 12:10 PM I think I found a way to fix this problem. I took a ~3" piece of a bicycle innertube and slipped it over the end of the plastic spout. The water now is directed away from the firewall so it can't get into the passenger compartment.
