You can pretty much tint whichever window (even the windshield) to your desired preference, it's just whether you get caught. There are some pretty hefty fines. Most states allow 35% and lower from sides around. I don't believe any states legally allow the windshield but I have seen it. Also, the color of your interior can play to your advantage. A lighter interior will allow you to go darker with the tint, and not likely get caught (unless them boys just have to pull out that meter). But a darker interior will make a lower defraction percentage seem a little darker. **Tip-to-the-wise** try to keep your rear windows darker than the front, even if your already going illegal. Most cops will use that as a guide, on whether they screw with your tint or not. It's more commonly legal to have the rear tinted as much as 10% more than the front in passenger cars. Lastly, a light colored car with say 50% WILL stand out. keep the blatently dark tints on dark cars.
