Re: what kind of oil

you'll do 5000 miles on any quality conventional oil, why waste $$ on Amsoil?
i change Amsoil every 15 000 miles, and am headed into 17 000 trial. remember, it's warranted to 25 000.

btw, before you listen to Jcat and his ways, read your truck manual. DOES IT SAY ANYWHERE TO CHANGE OIL AT 3000 INTERVALS? DOES NOT EVEN IN MY 2000.

J, you need to take it easy on taking any mentioning of your advice or disagreement with it personally. you'll burn yourself out. for training purposes, try craigslist automotive forum.

500 miles makes no difference, if oil is warranted for 25 000 miles. guy's wasting money. conventional Quaker State or Pennzoil will do 5000 miles on a new truck easy, even under towing conditions. unless he's driving in a Sahara desert.

I change my oil every 8,ooo miles.....not 3500miles...
every one I know that uses this type of oil replaces the filter at 3500/4000miles....

if you want to go and replace the filter at 25,ooomi thats your vehicle,, your business...I'm just stating my knowledge with this...

the filter media with too long of use gets dirty , and gets stessed out,,,, not taking any chances the filter blows out...

Re: what kind of oil

Changing the Oil fllter every 3k mi. or so is cheap insurance. Throwing the replacement qt.or so into the crankcase helps replinish the additive package. While you are under your ride you can check out the other components that can not be seen from above. Time for preventative measures if needed. Where as oil is the life blood of an engine the oil filter is the kidney. We all know what happens when the kidneys fail on a human. The same goes for an engine.
