2000 3.0 24v hard to start wagon.

My 2000 3.0 24v wagon is difficult to start about 75% of time. In the past year
have replaced the fuel pump, crank position sensor, and camshaft position sensor.
The problem happens for cold and sometimes warm starts both. Engine runs fine
after starting. Running out of options, any help? Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Have you tried holding the throttle slightly open when starting? Maybe the throttle plate is carboned up and/or the IAC is not functioning properly.

Also, what is the fuel pressure when the car won't start easily?

Thanks for the response.

I have checked and cleaned the IAC, and the entire throttle plate/body mechanisms.
The pressure bleed valve ejects a strong stream of fuel from the fuel line although I have
not done a pressure check. The fuel pump was one of the first things suspected and
replaced some time back.

Yep, but you still need to make sure the pressure is correct to ensure the problem isn't elsewhere, such as a pressure regulator that is returning too much fuel back to the tank or a restriction in the fuel line. Was the fuel filter also replaced with the new pump?

Were you parts you mentioned in your original post all replaced because of this issue?

Ok, I'll get a guage and check the pressure.

Can't be certain so I'll have to check, but I believe the filter was changed. I did not
do that job myself. The others I did.

Thanks again
Tom
