I have a 2005 chevy tahoe that won't start. The key goes forward but won't crank. No amperage through the battery cable when turning the key. i took the starter out had it tested. Tested good the tahoe started right up. I didn't drive it for two days and it wouldn't start again. I pushed the brake pedal and it started. When it does start I have to hold the key forward to get it to crank. Most other chevy's you can just tap the key forward and it will crank. I don't know if it is the ignition switch or the neutral safety switch or a tempermental starter?

next time it is not starting at the rt front wheel well access starter and with a hammer give it a hit [not too hard] with the key in the crank position...if it starts cranking then it is most likely the solenoid or the lug going to the starter motor that has a nut with no wires to it from the top.

That was it one little tap. I had tapped the starter a couple times, but not with the ignition in the crank position. Thanks a million!!

next time instead of taping the starter motor try to rotate the small wire lugs...at the top solenoid...I have found the wires internal of the solenoid to be the problem...
