Buying an F350 Dually

I am buying a 95 F350 Dually, with a powerstroke 7.3, that has been sitting for about a year. The engine and transmission were replaced 14k miles ago. I know I will need to replace the batteries. What are the odds that it will fire up after sitting that long? Any suggestions?

Re: Buying an F350 Dually

It should fire up ok as long as you do this first.
1. Change oil.
2. Remove old diesel fuel from the tank, then fill to full.
3. Change fuel filter.
4. Change transmission fluid and filter if milky.
5. Change air filter.
Before your first start-up make sure your glow plugs are working properly. Then,
wait about tens seconds, then start. This will ensure all your fuel injectors are primed and ready to go.
Hope your getting a good deal. This model can be a little troublesome.

Re: Buying an F350 Dually

Just a lot of electrical and no start issues. Things just seem to happen all of a sudden. Truck ran great yesterday, but won't start today kind of thing. Runs great in dry weather but dies out when raining. Should i go on? If you have the time and patience, this is most likely not an issue to you. If in doubt read other 1995 F350 post through out the web.
Good Luck!
