Talking AE86 3 Door to 2 Door Coupe Conversion.

I have always wanted the coupe version along with the hatch version for some time and when I found two hachirokus at a low cost 11.00 bucks, I thought mabe I can build the coupe that I want. An for a time I looked around for the old coupe kit by fujimi an then gave up on that., when I found some old Toyota MZ12 Soarers. The rear of the roof on that car looked like it may just work for what I had in my mind. So I started on my conversion. An this is what I have so far. Oh and the kits I'll be using are the Fujimi "Drift King" AE86 Levin [#04001] an "tha" Tamiya Toyota Soarer 2800GT [#682]-US code:[#2438]

This image is before I started hacking away at them.

An the start:

Once I rebuild the trunk and do some filling in I can start on the engine, engine bay and Interior.

Re: AE86 3 Door to 2 Door Coupe Conversion.

Ok these are two of the kits I looked for.

Any way I started to sand the rear of tha roof and found that I needed to give it more stability, so I cut out a .010 thick shim., to fit in that thin space. It should give me some added stability, an so I thought.

It work a little and yet I still kep getting a sag in the rear. SO I sand a lot off the top of what was left of the rear hatch.

I then cut out a larg peace of .030 thick sheet and placed it in between the rear A-Piller and the lower part. Then I started in on some of the putty work.

I filled in a lot of the gaps around these rear side windows with .040 sheet. I think it's looking go so far.

Later that day I cut open the hood and made some hood seround supports. Now I know there's a gap on both sides of the hood and I have a fix for that, some old .010-015 will fix those gaps an fill out the hood shape well.

Well what's next? Next I'm going to finish the top of the new trunk with it's shallow mid space or dip and low drag style wing. For me those tall JGTC or Drift wings don't look all that good on small car.

Great work! These are one of my favourite cars! Will it be 'Panda' colours?

Very cool. I like your style dont buy the kit, make your own. Thats what i do. Best way to be different. It looks like these two where ment to be fused together you hardly had any problems. Good build, keep it up!
