Question A/C psi question

Hi everyone,

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee v6. I have replaced the compressor and I need to charge the system. Does anyone know what Jeep manuals have to say about the PSI charging?

Thank you in advance,

Jay

Question Re: A/C psi question

Also, I put 5oz of oil into the compressor, do I need to add more or should it be OK?

Thank you,

-Jay

I am not the AC expert but have reading a lot about it. Have you replaced the dryer/accumulator? Many warranties on the compressor require that you do. Have you pulled a vacuum on the system to make sure there are no leaks? I believe you add refrigerant by weight not PSI.

Hi Pkucan,

Yes I have replaced the dryer/accumulator and pulled the vacuum. I am at the stage of adding freeon, and I am not 100% sure what I am doing.

Thank you,

-Jay

Re: A/C psi question

You can start adding by weight but correct pressure is important. I don't know the specs for a 1995 but they should be available on the web.
There is a high pressure side and a low side, the pressure on each is different of course and optimally both sides should be monitored, but many use just the low side.
Always use caution when working with high pressure/refrigerant systems.
