Question 99 windstar vacuum tube

I have the same issue as many of the post I read, where my vent is stuck on the default defrost position, regardless of where I rotate the vent selector. After taking a peek at my vacuum lines, I found this elbow detached (view pic). I cant seem to find where this elbow connects. Please advise...

Re: 99 windstar vacuum tube

I believe that goes to the EGR solenoid (i think thats what it is called) so if you look at your engine and look and the left back side of the black plenum you should see a black solenoid looking device with a flat round top and it should be attached to that. I could be wrong so lets see what others here have to say but that vacuum elbow looks like it goes to the EGR solenoid

I had the same problem....it goes to a black box located by the pass side strut tower...you may have to remove the cowl.( the metal piece that is below the windshield that holds the wipers) ...once you hook it back up your heater controls will work...

This is correct. I had the same issue and just reconnected it all (as schadd1971 describes) over the weekend.

Heater controls all function properly again.
