I would check the push button battery first.

somehow it happpened to me that the onboard receiver got de programed to another remote code..you must follow the reprogramming instructions so that the remotes will be recognized...

Re: 2000 Silv. Remote wont lock/unlock only the alarm button works
i had same issue twice, on same year.
1. pop your remote fob cover up, a coin or a flathead. take pencil with eraser, and clean contacts. you should see some slimy residue buildup. humidity and sweat and such. those could have been sealed better, but then GM could have done a lot of stuff better.
2. stand close to your truck on the driver side door. of course, re-assemble the fob. press and hold lock/unlock buttons for about 7 seconds. you should hear locks cycle. let go off buttons. you just reset your remote.
you go through remote learning procedure only when you buy a replacement fob and truck has to learn a new fob. otherwise, just reset it.
if you still have a problem, battery might be an issue in the fob. every time you replace battery, you have to go through the re-synchronization process, just described. battery should last many years.
otherwise, dealer's gonna have you, raw and tasty. don't even try to mess with BCM, which remote features are part off.
oh, door switches have none to do with this. you have receiver hidden inside the dash console. it picks signal from fob, sends it to BCM, BCM authenticates signal as belonging to this truck, and allows door locks to unlock. matter of fact, i read that due to security reasons, a new code is generated every time you use fob, so that other fobs do not open YOUR truck. fob is mated to your truck. YOUR fob generates new code for YOUR truck, and your truck only should recognize it as coming from LEGIT fob.
unless, of course, you did not have battery disconnected whilst messing with door locks and fried something.....

I don't think you be judging people when you don't know who they are. I have an account on here so i can ask a question when i have a problem. I don't have very many problems with my vehicles and that is why I hardly post on here. GOT IT?

yeah, give it a shot and let us know. even negative results are positive, meaning that we learn from them.
i remember being quite desperate myself, when my locks quit responding to my fob.
good luck and all the best.

what I got is,,, a confusing posting not mentioning how you,,, after that inital posting,,,, mentioned messing around with the door switches..
I clearly gave you the correct answer which YOU ignored,,,which is the remotes need be re-programmed to work with the vehicles security system..
you simply follow the instructions in your owners manual...
so since you ignored my reply, I then came to the conclusion that you have NO idea what I'm talking about...
If you did not understand what was given you should ASK QUESTIONS...
not ignore what members here put out , to help confused owners such as you...with their vehicle issues..

Re: 2000 Silv. Remote wont lock/unlock only the alarm button works
I don't post questions on here so i can get into arguments. if you don't have anything good to say pertaining to the question that has been asked don't waste your time and everyone elses reading your crap. Now don't post anymore if it doesn't have anything to do with this.
NOW PERTAINING TO THE REMOTE I DID READ WHAT YOU TOLD ME TO DO AND WENT OUT AND DID IT, IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRYS BUT IT DID REGISTER AGAIN SO YES IT DOES WORK, IF IT DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AWAY FOR THE REST OF YOU WHO NEED TO DO THIS DON'T GIVE UP RIGHT AWAY TRY FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES BECUASE IT WILL FIND THE FOB AGAIN. THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED OUT!
