belt squeek

My sons truk belt squeeks all the time. Weve tried belt dressing made it squeel super loud.Normally its like a constant chirp we put bar soap in grooves itll stop for a while then bak especially when rainy weather.Yes we put new belt on not a cheap one either.Stopped for few weeks.Any idea hes drivn me crazy

are you sure its the belt? might be a dumb suggestion but i'd check the components themselves maybe a bearing is out in the alternator or power steering pump or something. good luck.

I think carguy is onto it. Take the belt off and check all the idler pully, tensioner and accessory pullies for roughness or drag.

well he had blown head gasket which put antifreeze everywhere stikky.Im sure thats what it is cause didnt do before plus as soon as soap hits the grooves it quits for a while..

What year is your truck ? Does it have the serpentine belt system ? If so , you shouldn't put belt dressing on it . That is for the older v-belt system . If it is a serpentine setup and it's squeaking , you probably need a new belt . Mine is doing that right now and my belt is frayed at several places and I will replace it soon. Do you more info on you situation ?

It is a 99 yes serpentine. I put a new napa belt on it 50 buks about 3000 miles ago.It didnt make any noise til now but like i said antifreeze was everywhere so im thinkn stiky antifreeze. Jus not sure how to clean belt pulleys etc

I would clean the belt and pulleys use a couple cans of brake clean. Roll over the alternator and idler pulleys by hand you may have a bad bearing.
