Bad parts at Auto Zone??

A while back my 2001 2.2L cavalier started having problems. Just like everyone else that owns one of these cars the check engine light came on followed by the track off light and some hard shifting. I scanned the codes with my OBD2 scanner and it said that it was the Air intake temp sensor. I bought one at Auto Zone but it looked different then the stock one after I installed it I cleared the codes and is seemed to solve the problem but I noticed that the AC stopped blowing cold air. After about 10 minuets the AC came back on but so did the light s and the hard shifts. I have sense replaced the TPS sensor at the recommendation of a Chevy mechanic but the same thing happened after I had reset the codes. The code that its throwing still says that’s it’s the IAT sensor. Could have Auto Zone gave me the wrong sensor of maybe the new one was bad when I bought it. I have read a lot about this problem online and on this forum but no one has seemed to have fixed the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: Bad parts at Auto Zone??

Bad parts are always a possibility. Typically, if the electrical connector fits and the part physically fits, the part is "correct". By that I mean it usually works. I won't use Autozone parts (especially electronics), they seem to be low quality and the people there tend to be completely incompetent. On the subject of incompetence, what is this mechanic's logic behind replacing the TPS for an IAT code?

Also, there is no code for "bad IAT sensor". A code for any sensor means the problem can be anywhere in the circuit. Check for power and ground with a volt meter. A test light is inaccurate and can damage most computer circuits. I would begin by returning the AZ part and getting a genuine AC Delco part, or at least a "Standard" brand part. Standard are quite a bit cheaper in many cases, and they seem to work great for everything (except CMP and CKP sensors in some cases).

When you buy something... a bottle of pop for example, who gets the profit from it and what do they do with it? Maybe your money's going to groups that want to hurt you. I think everyone should do a search for things they purchase regularly "____ supports". Might just find a company you won't buy stuff from anymore.
