87 F-150 shuts off after driving for a while

87 F150 inline 6 cyl. drives for about an hour or so then shuts off and won't restart until it cools down. Just had water pump failure so I replaced pump, thermostat and new temp sensor still has the same problem. Any ideas?

When it shuts off and you attempt to restart what does it do? What is your temp when it shuts off? Have you put a code reader on it and if not, do it and post your codes.

Sounds like you may have a bad ignition control module. They were bad about failing when they got hot.

Advance and Auto Zone will check them free for you. Sometimes you need to use a hair dryer and warm them up before they fail.

Thats if they have the EEC adapter... ICM sounds like a good place to start.
