99 caravan radiator fan relay location

Can some one tell me where the relay is? What do I have to do to replace it?

Thanks

Use the Search feature above and type in "radiator fan relay" and you will find all the info you need.

Welcome to the forum. Look on the frame to the drivers side of the radiator under the air intake ducting and resonator box or you can follow the wire harness connected to the fans. That search function can be a PITA for a newbie.

Re: 99 caravan radiator fan relay location

After removing the drivers side headlight, I found the relay under a plastic cover. Replacement took a while as I had to drill out the rivets to take out the old relay (what a design!). The part cost some 40 dollars. I spent around 1.5 hours on it. The fans now come on when I turn the A/C on.

Thanks

Yup, forgot they moved it in 99. Sorry for the misdirect. Just curious. Were the fans coming on with a temperature rise but not when the A/C was turned on?

I knew for sure the fans did not get turned on when I turned on the A/C. I did not know for sure if they came when the temperature rose.

Re: 99 caravan radiator fan relay location

RIP you helped me locate the fan sensor on my 98 Grand Caravan, thank you. I held off replacing it because the dealer told me it was over $70.00. I asked my local mechanic who I trust a lot in not doing things I really don't need, he told me that vehicle's fans are controlled by temp and not to worry. My van has never overheated, warms right up to the half way mark and stays there, the ac still blows nice and cold. When I turn on the AC or defroster, it seems to lag about 30-60 seconds and then the fans kicks on. On my wife's Protege 5 though, they come on instantly so I'm confused if I should be concerned or not.

thanks again!

This link will explain how the fans are turned on. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=909708. I don't imagine the turn on as much in Minnesota as the do where I live.
