I have a 2002 Monte SS and in the message center a light came on that says Service Vehicle Soon. It stays on the entire time the car is running. This is different than the Check Engine.

I talked to my mechanic and he said I should be able to reset that the same way I would reset the Change Oil Soon light. I've tried numerous times to reset it by turning car to acc and pressing gas 3 times. It hasn't gone off.

Does anyone know the reason for this and how to reset it? I also have the abs and traction control lights on and in the message center the light that says service traction system comes on occasionally. Would these these things be related? and does anyone know what types of issues the traction system has?

As for ur ABS and traction light, check your front wheel bearings. If there is any play in there, it could trigger those lights. Those sensors have no tolerance for unusual slop from the bearing. Saw it on a 2004 sunfire and grand am. Hope this helps.

A S.V.S light is triggered by the BCM. Means the Interior computer thinks there's something wrong with the electrical system in the car. The traction/abs lights are probably either a bad harness, or a bad Wheel hub.

I have the same problem on my 01 ls...it says service vehicle soon...my mechanic tried to reset it with turning it to acc and gas brake etc and it didnt work...somebody told me when you remove the stock radio frome the car and dont add the bypass data cord this happens...i bought the car with an aftermarket radio...put the stock back in and i herd the door chimes, e brake sound etc but the light never came off! Well needless to say i took it out and threw in a flip out in dash without the data cord...if i buy the cord and put it back in will it reset? And the same problem with low tire pressure.. One tire was low, had a nail and got it patched but the light never went off..i now have 22s on the car and the lights still on...any help????

You need to get the S.V.S code read by a mechanic with a TECH II. Then you'll know what caused it, and go from there.

As for the Tire light, Theres 2 ways to reset it. 1) through the Stock radio. 2) with the car on, pull the headlight knob out 1 notch 3 times. Should hear a beep and it will be gone.

I took the car into the chevrolet dealership to have it hooked up. You're correct, there is a bad sensor on one of the front hubs. They say the Service Vehicle Soon light is on because of this. Thanks for the help.
