Plenum question

Putting things back after cleaning the throttle body I noticed that there were a couple of areas on the base of the plenum that had broken. When the gasket is in place it appears that there is a good seal but the fact that it's broken seems to me cause for concern.

Should I replace it? Any help is appreciated.

Duane

Did finally get the broken exhaust bolts tapped out and rethreaded.

Re: Plenum question

yes you need to replace it and if you don't go to dealer you can probably find one in a salvage yard. fix it right the first time then you wont have to worry about it again and it wont quit on you on the road.

Re: Plenum question

I was wondering if this is causing an intermittent problem I’ve been having in the mornings.

It starts and idles fine
– I leave the house and go to the end of the block, stop, turn left and go up a slight incline (two blocks)
- Get to the stop sign, let off the gas and it dies.
- Starts right back up, turn right and go down a hill (1 block) to the next stop sign and it dies.
- Repeat a couple of more times until I get onto the main road and once it gets going I have no more problems with it the rest of the day.
- Get off work, get in it and off we go – no problems.

This evening I’m going to go the up a level in the parking garage and see if it has anything to do with the first incline but I doubt it.

Thanks for all the help,
Duane
