flowmaster mufflers

I read up that the 50 series delta flow is a little more quiet than the 40 series. Ive got dual 40s, stock headers and no cats. i wanna change to the 50s, i hear too much of the engine inside the car as well, and i know my neighbors dont wanna hear it either. Will i notice a difference with the 50s with my setup? I wanna stick with flowmasters but need a more tame sound, not too loud nor too quiet.

I'm positive you'll notice a difference. If you look at the volume levels of each muffler on the flowmaster site it shows that the 50 was designed to send all (most) of the sound out the tailpipe and doesn't resonate inside the car. No droning sound when your on the highway either except when your around 13 or 1400 but its not annoying. They're "just right." At first i wanted to go louder too, but i decided i like my neighbors and the 50's would be best. Plus since you have duals i think it'd be great. I was planning on getting duals in the future too and i knew if i had dual 40's WITHOUT cats it'd be wayy too loud.

Re: flowmaster mufflers

yeah thats the issue im having now, dual 40s without cats is way too loud for an everyday driving car. Im heading over to the exhaust shop tommorow and if all goes good ill put up a new clip with the 50s

Re: flowmaster mufflers

yes good mufflers and like he said you'll know a new lighter sound. but yes if you want good by the 50 flowmaster again this time. there is a site you can look up and hear what they sound like idling, drive by and take off. but i cant remember if it was jegs or summit.

i just got a 40 series put on my 84. it's a single set-up and the cat is still there. it's not as loud as i thought it would be. i was going to do a dual with 50 series but it's not going to be in my budget for a while. should i expect it to get louder?

Re: flowmaster mufflers

I have a single exhaust w/ 50 series on my wagon.
It's just a little louder on the inside of the car but then again i am running a cat. I like the way they sound, not to loud.
I am sure without a cat it would be louder.

I just got a 89 mustang 5.0 that has dual 40's and hi flow cats. The loudness is fun for a while but i think i may switch them to 50's as to not offend the neighbors and set off their alarms as i drive by.
We'll see
