1996 Monte Carlo, Turn Signals not working yet Hazards are

Turn signals were working fine, had to turn on hazards, now the turn signals will not work but if i switch the hazards on they work fine. I thought I blew a fuse but I can not even locate the turn signal fuse.

Could anyone help,

Thanks

Well.. It might be battery related or wiring related.
Most likely wiring relation tho. Maybe a short.

As Turn signals have nothing to do with your 4-ways.
4-ways are made to work even if your vehicle is turned off as Turn signals aren't.

Just thought that was an interesting tidbit.

Take a look at your owners manual to find the fuse panel. The most common causes for a malfunction are a blown fuse and/or the turn signal flasher unit.

If it blows another fuse, check out the turn signal light bulbs. A defective bulb or socket is the most likely source for an electrical short.

Turn signals, 4 ways and brake lights all go through the turn signal switch which is buried on the turn column. if its not a fuse or relay then its more than likely the turn signal switch.

It's very likely you'll be doing this soon:

If you can gently pull the high beam switch to you but not turn the highs on ,,,,and the brake lights and turn signal work correctly then it is a turn signal switch prob in the column as quoted by ,,,Blue BowTie

Re: 1996 Monte Carlo, Turn Signals not working yet Hazards are

My car hazard lights came on after taking my car into a mechanic to fix the cad converter. The mechanics couldnt figure out why they came on and it wont shut off (the switch is broke) so they took the whole plug out from under my dash and now my turning signals dont work. however, when I drove my car home and shut off car, the flashers started flashing again and now the flashers wont shut off.. and now my car wont start.Im furious and feel I shouldnt have to pay the mechanic the rest of the money i owe until this problem is resolved since I didnt have this problem before! Any suggestions as to why my car is doing this?
