Need Advice & Ideas For A 92 Accord Stuck Door Lock Mechanismhambone35 04-27-2009, 02:40 PM I need some advice and ideas on trying to get a drivers side front door open on a 1992 Honda Accord 4 door. I have the door panel off and can move the lock rod and the handle rod. I can see the lock assembly and all the moving parts. Everything seems to work properly but doesn't pop the lock from the stricker. The doors have been customized with shaved handles and electric openers. All the doors appear to be in line and don't look bent. Has anyone had or know of someone who has had this problem, give me some tips, ideas and/or advice just short of cutting a good shaved door up. Thanks to all in advance and look to hear from all that feel they can help me. somick 04-27-2009, 07:34 PM As far as I remember the lock rod is hooked to the lock with kind of a plastic clip. Could it broke off? Sam somick 04-27-2009, 07:39 PM If you have your panel off you probably can remove the lock without damaging anything. Open opposite door side as a sample. Good luck, Sam jeffcoslacker 04-28-2009, 05:15 AM Any rods involved have to be the correct length and shape. Many times they get stretched or bent and will still move the mechanisms, but not quite enough to open the door. Take the rods off the door latch and lock mechanisms and see if you can make them work manually by manipulating them directly. If so, you've got some rod adjusting to do...might need to shorten one up. Putting a slight kink in them will do this. Gotta make sure it's not too much, and doesn't affect window clearance, etc... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
