Hello all,

I have read a lot on problems with the 44RE automatic tranny in my 96JGC with 5.2L V8.

A few days ago I did a lot of service on my Jeep, I changed the front CV joints, spindles, ball joints, pitman arms, tie rods, transaxle and diff fld change, and replaced the cat converter.


I started my Jeep today and it sounded fine. I put it in reverse no problems. I started to drive and the Jeep went from first to second gear no problem, but not shifting into third or anything else. It sounds like a moaning sound from 45mph and up (vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr), it does not idle badly or anything at all. If the fluid in the tranny is fine and clean and the diff fluid is fine what could it be? I have been reading on the solenoids and regulators, does this sound like this problem how will i find out? and better yet the DRB III tool where can I get use of one, i know they are expensive. I have a ODB II code reader and there is nothing coming up on it. The shop is telling me I have to rebuild my tranny and likely my front differential. When i do a manual codes check I get code 12 and 55 which i know is nothing. Please help.
