tranny problems???

i have a 97 and we had a decent amount of rainfall and i went through some higher water than what i thought. after 3 hours of trying we got it to run again and i drove it around the rest of the day while the engine was still slowly drying out. a week went by and i noticed it was lagging when in gear when i got on it. well it got worse and on my way to work one morning it felt like 3rd and 4th gear went out. it still shifts up 1, 2, and once i get up to about 40 and it goes into 3rd my rpms start to shoot up and it feels like its just slipping like crazy. i can barely keep a constant speed but im redlining about. so i drove it home after work in 2nd gear all the way goin 35 40. just wondering what it might be, i forgot to say the day before i started to hear like a knocking in the tranny when i got on it too

Welcome to AF.

This post is getting old.
Always check the date on a post and if old leave it that way.
If you need help on yours start a New Thread and give all info and someone will help.

A good transmission/engine scanner with a code read out and reading on transmission data would be in order.
Post back any codes transmission or engine.
